How to Successfully Sell Personal Items
If you’re looking to de-clutter your home and earn some extra money at the same time, selling some
personal belongings you no longer need could be a great idea.
The best times for holding a sale are late spring, early summer, and in the fall, with Saturdays being the
most popular day. Before you decide on a sale date, check with your city government to see if you’ll
need a permit.
As you gather items to sell, be sure to develop a plan. Advertise your sale at least a week in advance
using yard signs, social media, and sites like Craigslist. Since most people will want to pay with cash,
stop at your bank the day before to stock up on $1 bills and change.
On the day of the sale, greet and welcome customers. Make it easy for buyers to find items by spacing
them out and having prices clearly marked… and be prepared to answer questions.
